Young People-Focused Police Initiative Expands in Recklinghausen/Bottrop District
The police in Recklinghausen are set to launch a new round of the event series 'AnsprechBAR - the police shares information,' specifically for students. The kick-off of the AnsprechBAR will take place next Thursday, 18th September, at the Paul-Spiegel-Berufskolleg in Dorsten.
Young people are encouraged to ask questions and be involved in the discussions. The police president in Recklinghausen, Friederike Zurhausen, emphasizes that prevention and enlightenment must be exciting, relevant, and emotionally engaging for young people.
The event series will visit schools in the Recklinghausen district and the city of Bottrop until early October. The police aim to evoke emotions, create tension, and show concrete action possibilities during the event series.
The AnsprechBAR will take place in a relaxed atmosphere, allowing young people to converse with police officers from different departments. The police use an Airstream trailer as an eye-catcher and interactive formats to create a pleasant atmosphere.
The focus of the event series is on an exchange at eye level. The police aim to take young people's concerns seriously and allow them to co-create the discussions. Topics for discussion include online dangers, knife violence, radicalization, civil courage, and more.
The goals of the dialogue series include enlightenment about digital crime and everyday dangers, prevention of violence and radicalization, promotion of media competence and critical thinking, and building trust between the police and young people.
After the kick-off, the police will bring the dialogue series to every other city in their area of responsibility, with one date per city initially planned. Journalists are welcome to attend the events, and a short registration with the police press office (Tel. 02361-55 1033) is required.
