Yakutia Doubles Family Support, Aims to Slash Poverty by 2030
The Yakutia government has announced significant improvements to its family support policies. The republican maternity capital 'Family' has been doubled to 300,000 rubles for the birth of the third and subsequent child, and is now provided for each subsequent child born on or after January 1, 2025. Additionally, free car transport is now provided for children from large families attending grades 1 to 11 in educational institutions.
The 'Century of Children' capital has been set at 116,756.85 rubles in 2025 for families with children born on or after January 1, 2022. Large families in Yakutia also receive a 30% discount on housing and communal services. The republican government aims to reduce the poverty rate among large families by threefold by 2030.
Since 2020, the number of large families in Yakutia has increased by 9.2%, with over 34,600 large families currently residing in the region, accounting for 44% of children born into them. The total regional support for the birth of the fourth and subsequent children in large families in 2025 is 433,000 rubles. In recognition of their efforts, municipalities with the best results in demographic and family policy receive a grant of 10 million rubles. Furthermore, since 2024, young couples under the age of 25 receive a one-time cash payment of 50,000 rubles upon their first marriage.
These new measures aim to support and encourage family growth in Yakutia, providing financial assistance and practical support to help families thrive. The government's long-term goal is to significantly reduce poverty among large families and foster a strong, family-oriented community.
