Weekly Crusader Recognition: Ben Lepper and Nathan Howard
At Holy Cross College, seniors Ben Lepper and Nathan Howard have made their mark on campus, each with their unique interests and achievements. As they prepare to embark on new journeys post-graduation, we take a look at their favourite moments, aspirations, and plans for the future.
Ben Lepper, hailing from Wellesley, MA, is an Art History and Political Science major with a passion for music and sports. Lepper, who will graduate in 2025, serves as the Editor-in-Chief of The Spire and The Criterion, is a member of the English Honors Program, and plays Ultimate Frisbee. Lepper's favourite class at Holy Cross was Intro to Electroacoustic Music with Professor Arrell, and he enjoys the unplanned moments with friends as his most cherished memories on campus.
Lepper's favourite movie is Draft Day, and he is a devoted fan of the New England Patriots. His guilty pleasure is professional wrestling, particularly CM Punk, and his favourite off-campus restaurants are The Boynton, El Patron, and The Fix. Lepper's favourite colour is orange, and he looks forward to stable climate control when he returns home to Wellesley.
Lepper's words to live by are "Make your presence felt," and he has bragging rights as the Editor-in-Chief of The Spire. One thing Lepper would change about Holy Cross is the Wi-Fi, as it has been unreliable recently. Lepper's favourite book is "Eleutheria" by Allegra Hyde, which he discovered in Professor Whitmarsh's class. Lepper's favourite song is "Gone" by Shallou, though it changes weekly.
Nathan Howard, from Rehoboth, Massachusetts, is an English major with a French minor. Howard's favourite class at Holy Cross was Art of the Americas with Professor Patricia Johnston. Howard is involved in The Spire and Moot Court, and his favourite book is "The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde. His guilty pleasure is shopping for things he doesn't need.
Howard's favourite movie is Sunset Boulevard (1950), and his favourite TV shows are The Good Wife or Downton Abbey. Howard's favourite off-campus restaurant is The Mercantile, and his favourite spot on campus is the Dinand Debate Room. Howard's favourite colour is blue, and he looks forward to spending time with his parents and his dog when he goes home.
Howard's words to live by are "In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different," and he has been affectionately called "Mom of The Spire E-Board" by the features editor. One thing Howard would change about Holy Cross is longer hours in Dinand, as well as more printers on campus.
While Ben Lepper's post-graduation plans are not yet clear, Nathan Howard plans to continue studying Art History at Columbia University in New York City. Both students have left their indelible mark on Holy Cross and will be missed when they graduate. The featured image for this article is courtesy of Ben Lepper '25.
