Third month into the KRL Coming Attractions Column Reading Challenge, my passion for devising fresh monthly topics and books remains unwavering. I've made an effort to steer clear of conventional themes linked to particular months. However, I can't completely avoid certain themes that society often associates with specific periods.

Upcoming Cinematic Enigmas: March 2025

Month three of the KRL Coming Attractions Column Reading Challenge has me totally jazzed! My theme for this month – you guessed it – is honoring Women's History Month by highlighting awesome female amateur sleuths. Don't get me wrong, I've been a fan of female sleuths like Miss Marple, Jessica Fletcher, and Nancy Drew since day one. In fact, it was my big sis who introduced me to Nancy Drew mystery books back in the day, and we shared cozy mysteries throughout our adulthood (R.I.P., sis).

This month, in the spirit of Women's History Month, I'm bringing you five fierce females who'll have you rooting for them as they unravel crimes all over the place. So, grab your favorite hot beverage, settle in, and let's dive right in!

1. Spring-time for a Murder at Mill Ponds House

Iris Woodmore, a reporter, leaves her small town to avoid a scandalous mess. But when her enemy turns up dead, she's forced to play sleuth and clear her name. With the police hot on her heels, Iris needs to nab the killer before her secret gets out. Will she manage to prove her innocence without losing her reputation?

Murder at Mill Ponds House by Michelle Salter will be published by Boldwood Books.

2. The Four Queens of Crime

Detective Chief Inspector Lilian Wyles is the first woman detective chief inspector in the CID. When four queens of crime fiction – Agatha Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers, Ngaio Marsh, and Margery Allingham – come together for a fundraising gala, one of them winds up dead. Lilian enlists the "Queens" to help her solve the mystery and bring the killer to justice.

The Four Queens of Crime by Rosanne Limoncelli is set to be published by Crooked Lane Books.

3. Who Nun It?

In a curious adventure, young Sister Kristen gets caught up in a murder investigation at her convent. She and her teacher, Sister Inez, team up to solve the crime, but not without complications. Will Kristen be able to crack the case and keep her vows intact?

Who Nun It? by Susan Mattern is the first book in the Who Nun It? Mystery Series from Sibylline Digital First.

4. The Case of the Weather Walkers

Mystery Maven Aggie Burns returns from her hiatus and lands her first solo case. When her comrade, Rayne Walker, goes missing, Aggie is on it. She'll have to navigate awkwardness and insecurities to follow the leads and find Rayne. But will she break the rules to get the job done?

The Case of the Weather Walkers by J. Hicks will be released soon.

5. The Secret Detective Agency

In 1941, London, Miss Jane Treen, a cat-loving sleuth dressed in tweed, is recruited by a mysterious organization. She and her charming sidekick, Arthur, follow leads and uncover clues to a murder in Devon. Will their partnership prove to be the finest since Holmes and Watson?
