Unveiling of Sportradar's Third Integrity Report in Sports Industry
In a groundbreaking report titled 'Betting Corruption and Match-fixing in 2023', Sportradar Integrity Services has revealed the results of their extensive investigation into suspicious betting activities across 70 sports, covering a staggering 850,000 events and matches worldwide.
The report highlights the significant role of account-level betting data in detecting suspicious matches. In volleyball, AI-driven models identified 85% of such matches, while in tennis and table tennis, the detection rate was 100%. No single sport exhibited a suspicious match ratio surpassing 1%.
AI was instrumental in the detection process, with models used by Sportradar as part of their Universal Fraud Detection System (UFDS). The UFDS analyses account-level data and processes 30 billion odds changes in real-time across 600 global betting operators.
In 2023, AI played a pivotal role in identifying 73% of all suspicious matches, amounting to 1,329 matches under suspicion. Soccer had the most suspicious matches (880), followed by basketball (205) and table tennis (70). Europe had the highest number of suspicious matches (667), followed by Asia (302) and South America (217).
The report also sheds light on the geographical distribution of these suspicious matches, with 11 sports across 105 countries under scrutiny. The sanctions covered 10 sports in 23 countries and involved 39 cases.
Sportradar's efforts extend beyond just AI-driven detection. The Sportradar Integrity Exchange (SIE) allows over 70 betting operators to actively contribute information on suspicious betting, fostering collaboration and transparency in the global fight against match-fixing.
