Trump Emerges Victorious in U.S. Presidential Election

Donald J. Trump has been re-elected as the President of the United States, securing more than 270 electoral votes and a majority of direct votes. His second term, which began in January 2025, is politically marked by an aggressive stance on immigration, a continued focus on reducing federal government spending, and attempts to roll back certain liberal policies through executive orders, many facing legal challenges.

Trump's second term is also characterized by a hardline conservative agenda. His administration has reinstated a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border, designated drug cartels as terrorist organizations, sought to end birthright citizenship, and pursued mass deportations. Additionally, his government has taken a tough approach toward trade, increasing tariffs on steel and aluminum imports and reconsidering international trade policies.

Trump's relationship with evangelical voters remains a significant aspect of his political strategy. Historically, evangelicals have aligned with Trump due to his stances on issues like abortion, religious liberty, and conservative judicial appointments. During his first term, he made three successful appointments to the Supreme Court, securing a conservative majority that has influenced contentious issues such as abortion rights, religious freedoms, and other socially conservative policies. This conservative majority likely supports or upholds several of Trump's policy goals, reinforcing his alignment with evangelical and conservative constituencies.

In recent weeks, Trump has been seeking to strengthen his ties with evangelical voters, attending several meetings with pastors and representatives of evangelical entities in the United States. Several evangelical leaders have explicitly supported Trump, citing his stances on these issues as a reason for their support.

The Republican Party will have a majority in the Senate, which could aid Trump in pushing through his conservative agenda. However, international policy issues, including wars in Ukraine and Israel, international relations with China and Russia, and the role of NATO, will be key global issues for the new US administration.

Meanwhile, the Biden and Harris administration's policies on sensitive issues like gender transition support and gender ideology in education are opposed by some evangelical voters. The growth of conservatives in the US, under personalistic leadership figures, is being facilitated by the media power of social media.

Despite facing opposition, Trump has kept his promise to appoint conservative judges to the Supreme Court, ensuring a conservative majority that will likely support his policy goals throughout his second term. This, along with his hardline conservative agenda, is expected to bolster his continued support among evangelical voters and the broader conservative base.

  1. During discussions on education-and-self-development, debates over the Biden and Harris administration's policies on gender transition support and gender ideology in education have grown contentious, finding opposition among some evangelical voters.
  2. Trump's second term is not only politically marked by domestic issues, but also by a focus on wars-and-conflicts, as international policy issues, such as wars in Ukraine and Israel, international relations with China and Russia, and the role of NATO, will be key global concerns for the new US administration.
  3. The sports world has also been impacted by politics during Trump's second term, with athletes and sports organizations expressing their political views more openly, reflecting the polarization of American society on various issues.
