To maintain China's standing as a global education powerhouse, it’s crucial to preserve the autonomy of Hong Kong's universities.

Hong Kong's leading universities have a pivotal role in the region's education roadmap and innovation strategy, as outlined in China's Education Power Construction Plan. Aiming to transform the country into a global education powerhouse by 2035, the universities' contributions are significant in strategic sectors like artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, and biotechnology.

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the University of Hong Kong (HKU) are at the heart of this ambitious plan. HKUST concentrates on robotics and digital technology, while HKU excels in biomedical research.

Internationally accredited programs in STEM fields are available at both universities, attracting global faculty and fostering strong international research networks.
