The city of Pforzheim, Germany, and its Italian counterpart, Vicenza, are set to mark the 30th anniversary of their student exchange programme in spring 2024. This long-standing exchange, which has been fostering cultural understanding, educational cooperation, and youth mobility for three decades, is currently underway, with exchange students from Vicenza participating in lessons and extracurricular activities at Kepler-Gymnasium in Pforzheim.

Last Monday, 13th November, a special ceremony was held at the New Town Hall in Pforzheim to celebrate this milestone. The principal of Kepler-Gymnasium, Heike Reifurth, along with teachers from the Italian partner school, Istituto Tecnico Europeo Guido Piovene, were presented with certificates to mark the occasion. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Mayor Frank Fillbrunn, who praised the teachers for their dedicated and motivated engagement in the student exchange programme.

Ada Deflorio, the Italian teacher organising the annual exchange, confirmed the students' great interest in these mutual encounters. The Italian students, who have been in Pforzheim since last Saturday, are looking forward to spending the coming week in Pforzheim and its surrounding area, where they can strengthen friendships and explore the city known as "Italy's Gold City" due to its jewelry industry.

During their return visit to Vicenza in spring 2024, the German students will have the opportunity to further deepen their cultural understanding and friendships. The exchange programme has been instrumental in promoting mutual knowledge of language and culture, fostering international friendships, enhancing educational and professional opportunities, and encouraging European integration and intercultural dialogue.

As the exchange programme enters its fourth decade, future plans are likely to include expanding digital exchanges, broadening participation, increasing collaboration on joint projects, and deepening cooperation in areas like sustainable development, innovation, or vocational training. For detailed, updated specifics on this anniversary event, history, objectives, or future collaboration plans, it is recommended to check the official municipal websites or local educational institutions of Pforzheim and Vicenza, or contact the relevant cultural or international exchange offices in these cities.
