State-led Training Programs: A Pathway to Achievement - The State Association of Saxony and Thuringia organizes training courses for success
The THW Regional Association Saxony, Thuringia has announced a series of training exercises from March 28-30, 2025, and is inviting interested parties to reach out for more information and potential site visits by March 26, 2025.
These exercises, which will take place across various locations, will provide a unique opportunity to observe the THW's emergency response capabilities. The deployment areas offer command posts, sleeping facilities, sanitary facilities, and workshops for up to 500 people, designed to facilitate efficient and effective emergency response.
During these exercises, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) teams will be training with drones, focusing on unclear deployment situations and person searches. Drones are increasingly being used in large-scale emergencies, such as floods, forest fires, or building collapses, to provide a bird's eye view for deployment leaders, aiding in better decision-making.
Lea Berger, head of the volunteer and training department at the THW Saxony, Thuringia regional association, emphasizes the importance of well-trained helpers for safe and effective emergency response. She encourages visitors to contact the THW Regional Association Saxony, Thuringia for details about the training exercises, including site visits.
In addition to the exercises in various locations, the THW local association Zittau is hosting an exercise for the abroad sector, focusing on the High Capacity Pumping (HCP) unit of the Saxony, Thuringia regional association. The HCP unit can be deployed abroad within the European Union's disaster protection procedure to provide targeted disaster aid.
The exercise in Chemnitz and Erzgebirge district involves exploring potential THW deployment areas for longer-term operations. The THW in Saxony and Thuringia aims to provide competent and reliable assistance in the future, regardless of the damage scenario.
