State Cabinet Approves Inner Development Plan to Reduce Land Consumption
The state cabinet has approved a series of proposals aimed at bolstering inner development. This includes funding for municipalities to hire area managers in the commercial sector, and plans to create a new de-sealing premium worth around one million euros annually.
A key focus is reducing land consumption. An action plan for saving space is in the works, featuring a bundle of instruments to achieve this. The country is committed to supporting municipalities more strongly in this endeavour.
To make the most of existing resources, the ministry will create a digital overview of wasteland. This will help identify potential sites for housing construction. Additionally, model projects showcasing efficient area reactivation or de-sealing and renaturation will be initiated in collaboration with municipalities.
The 'Winning areas through inner development' program will be further developed. It will now focus on the efficient use and restructuring of commercial and industrial areas. A study has been commissioned to identify suitable instruments for saving space.
The state cabinet's approval of these proposals signals a commitment to sustainable inner development. By supporting municipalities and making efficient use of land, the country aims to create a more sustainable and liveable future.
