"Samruk-Kazyna marathon generates 200 million tenge for construction of inclusive children's rooms"
Morning Vibes in Astana's Botanical Garden. As the sun rose, the bustling Third Annual Charity Samruk Marathon ignited an energetic ambiance. Around 3,000 participants, a mix of "Samruk-Qazyna" employees, city dwellers, and partners, embarked on the 5 and 10-kilometer journeys for a worthy cause - accumulating funds for innovative inclusive playgrounds for kids with special educational requirements.
This year, the marathon amassed approximately 200 million tenge, a figure announced by Nurlan Zhakupov, the Chairman of JSC "Samruk-Qazyna," in his heartfelt speech.
A special section was created at the marathon where participants could purchase plants nurtured by children attending inclusive playgrounds.
The gathered funds will be utilized to construct 10 inclusive playgrounds, equipped with logopedists, defectologists, psychologists, workshops, and physical education facilities - all essential components for holistic child development and learning.
Zhakupov expressed his appreciation for the collective effort, stating, "Today, we unite for a noble purpose - to raise funds for the creation of new inclusive playgrounds for kids with special educational needs. Last year, we had 1,200 participants; this year, we have nearly tripled that figure! This diverse group includes not only "Samruk-Qazyna" Group staff, but also city residents, businesspeople, medical professionals, educators, athletes, and partners. Thanks to you and the backing of over 50 partners, we've collected an impressive amount!"
Zhakupov also took part in the race, completing the 10-kilometer route.
Dmitry Dokuchayev, an IT department employee at "Kazatomprom," expressed his enthusiasm for participating in the event:
"I've been lacing up and hitting the pavement since 2022, joining races ranging from 5 to 10 kilometers and half-marathons. This is my third "Samruk-Qazyna" marathon, and it feels particularly rewarding because the proceeds contribute to children's wellbeing."
Aidar Ryskulov, the managing director of "Samruk-Qazyna," completed the 10-kilometer distance in 42 minutes.
"The marathon holds a special place in our hearts as employees. I've been running casually for about 7 years, participating in various marathons, the Ironman, and the "Almaty Marathon." This year's race was delightfully organized," the top manager commented.
The race winners were honored with certificates and medals, and savored the serene May morning atmosphere, as well as the friendly competition on the distances.
It's worth mentioning that in 2024, the charity marathon of the "Samruk-Qazyna" group garnered 127 million tenge. Over 500 children with developmental challenges gained access to inclusive playgrounds. Annually, "Samruk-Qazyna" assists more than 700,000 Kazakhs.
