A Fresh Look:

Fortuna's community-focused project aims to bolster kids' physical fitness with the help of trainers from their performance center. This exciting endeavor takes place at KGS Mettmanner Straße school and six kindergartens in Flingern district, the neighborhood of Fortuna.

To ensure a balanced diet goes hand in hand with their newfound physical prowess, kids also undergo special nutrition courses. The foundation for this is the award-winning and scientifically backed initiative “SMS. Make wise choices. Get active. Stay fit.”

Today, Fortuna pro Tim Oberdorf, the project's benefactor, and city director Burkhard Hintzsche paid a visit to KGS Mettmanner Straße in Flingern-South. Instead of the usual P.E. instructor, a Fortuna performance center trainer led the class. Tim Oberdorf jumped right in, joining the energetic first-graders in class 1a. Burkhard Hintzsche expressed, “Promoting holistic and age-appropriate physical well-being is crucial for a child's physical and social development. As a city, we've long focused on this, continuously evaluating children's physical skills to derive support measures. Fortuna's project is an excellent addition, offering children a world of fun and new experiences.”

Tim Oberdorf chimed in, “It's vital to encourage children to appreciate physical fitness, and that's why initiatives like these are essential. As a professional athlete and education student, I'm thrilled to lend my support to this significant project.”

The SMS initiative fuses clever decision-making, active participation, and physical fitness, aligning with Fortuna's broader neighborhood project objectives. This project creates a conducive environment for kids to learn about healthy eating and the importance of physical fitness. It seems to comprise educational programs, events, and activities that encourage children to stay active and make sensible nutritional choices.

While the intricate details of the initiative and Fortuna’s exact strategies aren't revealed, it can be inferred as a community health promotion strategy. The SMS initiative strives to instill healthier behaviors among children by engaging the community in fitness and nutrition education, fostering a practical and sustainable way for kids to build healthier habits.
