Personalized Approach to Lifestyle Factors May Reduce AFib Risk for Each Person

Atrial fibrillation, commonly known as AFib, is a common heart condition that's characterized by an irregular heart rhythm, and it's a major risk factor for strokes. Besides the well-known risk factors connected to cardiovascular health, such as physical activity, diabetes, obesity, and smoking, a multitude of modifiable factors impact the incidence and severity of AFib.

These additional risk factors consist of lifestyle choices, comorbid conditions, and socioeconomic factors. Lifestyle factors like being sedentary, excessive alcohol consumption, and high levels of stress play critical roles in AFib risk. Regarding comorbid conditions, chronic cardiovascular, respiratory, and mental health issues not only increase the risk of developing AFib but also boost the complications linked to it.
