Park University International Center for Music Orchestra to Kick Off 2021-22 Season with a Memorable Concert
The Park University International Center for Music (ICM) Orchestra is set to begin its 2021-22 season with a captivating concert on Friday, Oct. 1, at 8 p.m. The event will take place inside the Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel on the Parkville Campus.
The concert will be conducted by Filippo Ciabatti, D.M.A., Director of the Dartmouth (College) Symphony Orchestra and a renowned figure in the music world. Known for his role as Assistant Conductor at Boston Baroque, Ciabatti made his debut leading the orchestra and chorus of Boston Baroque in a performance of Handel's Messiah in 2025, a significant and cherished work in the classical music repertoire.
The featured soloist for the evening will be Kyoshiro Hirama, a 2020 Park ICM graduate and current ICM graduate student pursuing a Master of Music in Performance degree. Hirama will perform Ludwig van Beethoven's "Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor," a piece that illustrates the many impressions of conflict that occurred in Vienna, Austria, during the Napoleonic Wars.
The concert program will open with "The Hebrides" overture, a composition by Felix Mendelssohn. Written to evoke impressions of the coast of Scotland, this piece promises to set the tone for an enchanting evening of music. The program will also include Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Symphony No. 38 in D Major (K. 504)," also known as the "Prague Symphony." This work, which concludes the concert, was written for Mozart's return visit to the city where his opera, The Marriage of Figaro, had been enthusiastically received.
In line with current health and safety guidelines, social distance seating will be implemented during the concert, and masks are required inside the Chapel. Admission to the concert is free, but reservations are required. Reservations can be made by emailing Gus Fernandez Agreda at the provided email address.
Filippo Ciabatti has selected three familiar works for the program, promising an evening of music that will resonate with both new and seasoned classical music enthusiasts. Don't miss this opportunity to experience the magic of live music at the Park University International Center for Music's first concert of the 2021-22 season.
Alongside the anticipated concert, the Park University International Center for Music (ICM) offers online educational opportunities for music enthusiasts who wish to further their knowledge and skills in the realm of music performance. (education-and-self-development, online-education, music)
