Park University announces Jack MacLennan as their new appointee for various positions.

Jack MacLennan, a distinguished academic and accomplished administrator, has been appointed as the senior director for strategic initiatives and communications, and special assistant to the president for governance at Park University, effective Aug. 1, 2024.

Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, MacLennan joined Park University in 2017, bringing with him a wealth of experience and expertise. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Michigan - Dearborn, and a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts with honours in Political Science from the University of Windsor, Ontario and St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick, respectively.

MacLennan's extensive career at Park University includes serving as the graduate program director for the national security studies program for the past five years. In this role, he demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication, contributing significantly to the program's success.

In addition to his academic responsibilities, MacLennan has been actively involved in university governance. He served as Park's Faculty Senate president from 2020-2022 and as its vice president from 2019-20. In his new role as special assistant to the president for governance, MacLennan will work closely with faculty and staff leaders, serving as chair of the University Commission on Shared Governance.

MacLennan's new position encompasses a broad range of responsibilities. As senior director for strategic initiatives and communications, he will lead the University's strategic communications efforts and support Park's strategic planning process. He will also support key stakeholders in the development, communication, and implementation of plans for the future of Park University.

MacLennan's commitment to Park University was recognised in April 2023 when he was awarded the Dusing-Proudfoot Award, which honours outstanding contributions as a faculty or staff member. In 2020, he received the President's Award for Teaching Excellence, which honours full-time faculty members who exemplify excellence in teaching.

MacLennan's appointment comes as Park University continues to grow and evolve, and his leadership and expertise are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the university's future. With his extensive experience, MacLennan is well-positioned to lead Park University's strategic communications efforts and support its strategic planning process, ensuring the university's continued success and growth.

In his new role as special assistant to the president for governance, Jack MacLennan will engage closely with faculty and staff leaders, with a focus on university politics and governance. Leveraging his extensive self-development and education-and-self-development background, he will also drive the University's strategic initiatives and communications, incorporating general news into this broader strategic planning process.
