Centralized Examinations Held in Belarus on May 29

A total of 56,766 individuals participated in the centralized examinations held in Belarus on May 29, 2023. Among these, 46,122 students chose Russian as their language, with 10,792 opting for Belarusian. Approximately 140 registered students were absent for valid reasons.

The examinations took place without major disruptions. While three students were denied entry due to forgetting their passports, the process was smoother than during the first centralized exam. There were minor incidents as well, such as two students being disqualified for violating the time limit and possessing mobile phones, and three students seeking medical assistance due to health issues.

A total of 7,783 workers were involved in overseeing the examinations.

According to Elena Svyridenka, a Belarusian language and literature teacher at Minsk's School No. 52, the examination tasks closely followed the school curriculum. Many students opted for the Belarusian language exam, some finding it easier while others were guided by emotional factors or fondness for their teacher.

In 2025, there will be minor changes to the centralized exam system aimed at increasing transparency and fairness. More details on these changes, including the prohibition of smartphones and other devices for photography, videography, and audio recording within the examination venues, are yet to be disclosed.

Russian language was the most popular subject among registrants, followed by Mathematics and Belarusian language. Most graduates have only one more centralized test to take before they can apply for university admissions.
