Neb provides clarification on the age for registration under the 2082 Act

The National Examination Board (NEB) has published a notice regarding the registration process for students appearing in the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) 2082. The notice, published on 2082/01/12, outlines the rules and regulations for the registration process.

According to the notice, students must have completed 14 years of age by the end of Chaitra 2082 to be eligible for SEE 2082. This rule is consistent with previous years, as stated in the notice, and is binding, meaning it must be strictly followed during the registration process.

Rule 78(6) of the Education Regulation 2059 (amended on 2067/10/09) also states that students who do not turn 14 by the end of the year in which the SEE exam is held will not be eligible to sit for that year's SEE.

The NEB's decision regarding the age rule for SEE 2082 is a reflection of the authority granted to the NEB by the Education Act 2028 (with amendments), Section 4(j). This section empowers the NEB to regulate provisions related to the SEE.

It is worth noting that while some institutions have age limitations for certain programs, such as Class 12 programs, the Medical Education Commission, foreign study authorizations, and various campuses, these limitations may not directly apply to the SEE registration process.

Despite the lack of explicit age requirements for students to register for the SEE in Nepal for the academic year 2082 (Bikram Sambat calendar) in the search results, general expectations suggest that SEE students are typically around 15 to 17 years old at exam time.

However, for precise and updated rules, contacting the Nepal National Examination Board or the Ministry of Education would be necessary. Recent confirmations from a Ministerial Decision dated 2081/10/28 and an official decision of the NEB dated 2081/11/28 have confirmed that the same age rule applies to the current academic year.

The SEE, which was previously the final exam at the end of Grade 10+2, is now the final exam at the end of Grade 10, following the eighth amendment to the Education Act in 2073/03/15. This change in the examination structure has been confirmed by both the Ministerial Decision and the official decision of the NEB.

Despite the clarification, many students still face complications or are denied opportunities due to not meeting the minimum age requirement. It is crucial for students and their families to stay informed about the latest rules and regulations to ensure a smooth registration process.
