Marketing in Education Amidst a Pandemic: Adapting Strategies for Academic Engagement
🔥edu-game-changer: Navigating Ghana's Education Landscape Amidst a Pandemic and Beyond! 🔥
Education? It's more than just reading, writing, and arithmetic. Education is the key to transformation - personal, familial, societal, and global! Education is power, productivity, progress, a fundamental human right, and quite simply, the future.
Ghana's love affair with education goes way back, with our constitution enshrining it as a fundamental human right. Since then, countless efforts from successive governments have been made to prioritize and deliver education, with the latest being the Free Senior High School (FSHS) program. This initiative has reportedly boosted enrollment by a whopping 69% since 2017!
But, oh boy, implementing the FSHS program hasn't been a walk in the park. It's been a rollercoaster ride, with challenges like poorly managed double track systems, insufficient infrastructure, high teacher-student ratios, and lack of textbooks. Yet, the government remains steadfast, pressing forward through the storm.
The private sector, though, deserves a round of applause! It's been a rock-solid foundation in Ghana's education drive, offering top-notch education from pre-school to post-graduate levels.
COVID-19, the uninvited guest, dealt a nasty blow to the education sector worldwide, Ghana included. Schools closed, and learning spaces went silent as educational institutions scrambled to adapt. Reports suggests that up to 23.8 million youth could drop out or be denied access to school due to the economic fallout from the pandemic. Online teaching, radio, and TV became our new classrooms.
But every cloud has a silver lining. Innovations supporting education continuity, swift adoption of online solutions, and enhanced branding and marketing efforts have offered flickers of hope.
As a brand strategist and education marketing consultant, I've gone all-in on supporting private educational institutions during these unprecedented times. I started Educonnect, Ghana's leading education-focused platform, and share tailored content on social media (find me at @kwamenyatuame) to help school owners, heads, and instructors navigate the complex world of education marketing and branding.
We're living in a fiercely competitive digital landscape, and educational institutions need to be savvy to stay relevant and survive. School leaders must be authentic, memorable, and relentless in building strong brands. Here's to an exciting, progressive 2022!
