We're excited to share the latest updates from the world of social media, focusing on improvements in user experience, creator support, safety features, and monetization capabilities. Here's a roundup of the key changes across various platforms:

Our Platform

Our platform has undergone a refreshing update, with a revamped homepage and branding. The updated look is now visible on the English homepage of our platform.com [1]. In addition, users can now move designs to and between folders within the platform, a feature exclusively available for Business users. To move a design, users can either drag and drop it between folders or click the "settings" icon in the top right corner of a design in My Designs [2].

Instagram

Instagram continues to innovate, introducing several new features for its Edits tool. The platform is currently testing a “Key frame” feature, as well as an AI-powered “Restyle” option [1]. Additionally, Instagram has introduced three new features to Instagram Edits: a "Teleprompter" in Camera Mode, an "Opacity" setting for overlays, and "Badges" for Reels [1]. The platform is also working on a new interests-based DM feature called “Picks” [1][3].

Threads (Meta’s spin-off app)

Threads has added two new buttons in the side menu, “Liked” and “Saved”, and introduced a post counter for linked updates to indicate sequence length and reader position [1][5].

TikTok

TikTok has rolled out several new features for creators, including "Creator Care Mode" for comment settings, "Creator Chat Rooms" (private communities), "Creator Inbox" for DMs, and "Content Check Lite" safety feature [1]. For parents, improved controls such as the ability to block accounts and notifications on teens’ public posts are now available [1]. For teens, "Well-Being Missions" under screen time settings have been launched [1]. TikTok Pro has been launched in the European Union, and "Footnotes" (similar to Community Notes) has been introduced in the US [1]. A new monetization feature for TikTok Live called “Scaled Rewards” has also been introduced [1].

Facebook

Facebook has updated the web version of its Professional Dashboard, featuring a new home screen and simplified navigation. The platform has also introduced Passkeys for safer login using biometrics or PIN [1]. All Facebook videos now convert to Reels format by default [1]. Facebook has added an option to add music to text posts [1]. The platform is urging users to place links in comments instead of captions for better reach [1]. Facebook is also restricting the reach of unoriginal content to protect creators [2].

WhatsApp

WhatsApp has added expanded AI support and calling options for business users, as well as new group call coordination features, making it more viable for professional use [2][5]. Meta aims for WhatsApp to be a primary platform for business communications [2][5].

General Social Media

Platforms are focusing on rolling out smoother in-app editing suites, new revenue-sharing models, and smarter recommendation algorithms. There's an increased focus on creator tools, personalized feeds, and AI-assisted workflows to enhance user engagement and monetization opportunities [4][5].

Lastly, a bug fix has been implemented, ensuring that interactive links in PDF downloads now function correctly [1]. These updates reflect ongoing efforts to improve user experience, creator support, safety features, and monetization capabilities across leading social media platforms in August 2025.
