Job Vacancy Announced: Support Role in Minnesota Sea Grant Student Office

Minnesota Sea Grant, a systemwide program of the University of Minnesota, is seeking a student employee to join its team at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) campus. The position, located in room 132 of the Chester Park Building, primarily involves supporting administrative and programmatic functions across Sea Grant’s mission.

Job Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for keeping the front office organized and running smoothly, supporting scientists, extension educators, and communicators on a broad range of programs. They will also be expected to organize electronic and printed information, perform data searches and analyses, create displays, handle packing, shipping, and inventory management, assist in program preparation and delivery, and perform other emerging administrative and operational tasks as needed.

Qualifications

To be eligible for this student employment, applicants must be current UMD students, with or without work-study eligibility. Those with work-study eligibility must maintain at least half-time enrollment to receive work-study funds. A positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively are essential, as are basic office skills including organisational abilities. The willingness to learn and support various Sea Grant team members’ needs is also required.

No specialized prior experience or technical knowledge in water sciences is necessary, making this role accessible to a broad range of UMD students looking for office support experience within a research and outreach environment.
