On Tuesday, 03.05.2025, officers from the Lippe Police Department conducted a traffic safety campaign, 'safe.mobility.life - Children in Focus', around kindergartens and schools in the region. A total of approximately 400 vehicles, including cars and bicycles, were checked.

The checks focused on the driving behaviour of adult road users in the protected zone "School". During the campaign, several violations were recorded.

Sadly, in another 10 cars, safety devices were present but not being used. Two cases were identified where parents used their mobile phones during the school run. Two cases of running red lights were recorded, and a driver in Augustdorf was clocked at 61 km/h in front of a kindergarten.

One vehicle was found to have false license plates and was not insured. The campaign also revealed 79 speeding violations, highlighting the importance of adhering to speed limits near schools.

It's important to note that the 'safe.mobility.life - Children in Focus' is a traffic safety campaign aiming to enhance pedestrian safety for children around schools by monitoring driver behaviour. Common violations typically include speeding, failing to yield to pedestrians, illegal parking in no-stopping zones, and distracted driving.
