Initiation of the Lighthouse Construction

The city of Landshut is set to construct a new Northwest Primary School, scheduled to open at the beginning of the 2025/26 school year. This 37-million-euro project, expected to receive a contribution of around 16 million euros from the Free State of Bavaria, is a response to the city's growing population that requires more children to be educated.

The design of the school building will be handled by Studio Leuschner Architekten GmbH from Munich. Architect Katharina Leuschner believes a future-oriented, timeless, and robust school building is being created on the site. The school will be divided into three learning clusters, each accommodating 60 to 75 children in a cooperative all-day care model.

Each learning cluster will have three classrooms for 20 to 25 schoolchildren each, two group rooms, and a central learning center. This innovative layout is designed based on modern pedagogical concepts, aiming to provide a conducive learning environment for the students.

Sebastian Hutzenthaler from the State School Authorities commends the courage to implement a new school concept. He also notes that the primary school teaching staff is already advanced in using these new concepts. The city is setting a benchmark in the region with this learning house concept.

The construction of the school is not just about meeting the growing demand for education in Landshut. It is also about creating a beautiful, high-quality living space for future generations of students. The new school building will no longer feature classic frontal teaching methods. Instead, new pedagogical concepts will be implemented with the learning clusters in the primary school.

The architectural office dasch zürn + partner, who also handed over the newly built Realschule to the city and school community of Landshut, will be responsible for the design of the Northwest Primary School. Their expertise promises a school building that not only serves its purpose but also stands the test of time.

In conclusion, the construction of the Northwest Primary School is an exciting development for the city of Landshut. It represents a commitment to innovative education and a sustainable future for the city's young learners. The school's opening in 2025/26 promises to be a significant milestone in the city's educational landscape.
