Individual Apprehended for Allegedly Disseminating NEET Exam Question Papers Prior to Examination in Bihar

In the tricky world of examinations, the NEET-UG held on May 4, 2025 saw a twist of unscrupulous activities when a cunning character from Bihar's Araria district was caught on the wrong side of the law. This con artist, known for deceiving medical aspirants, was apprehended by the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) and the local police on May 3, 2025.

The deceiver, operating under the facilitator's guise, was accused of offering the "question papers" of the NEET-UG to aspirants for a hefty fee. Sharing this information, the EOU released a statement on May 3, 2025.

According to the statement, the investigation team was alerted by a tip-off about a group of fraudsters exploiting the vulnerability of NEET aspirants. The cyber unit of the EOU and the district police of Araria were swiftly informed and a team was formed. Subsequently, the accused, identified as SK Faiz, was nabbed for committing fraud against aspiring medical professionals.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the accused had defrauded students, convincing them to transfer funds to his account for the illicit service. The investigation is ongoing, the statement added.

Previously, the Bihar police had warned aspirants and parents about phone calls from cyber fraudsters attempting to dupe them with false promises of providing question papers before the NEET-UG exam.

Notably, in April 2025, Sanjeev Kumar Singh (alias Sanjeev Mukhiya), the alleged mastermind behind the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak case, was arrested by the EOU in Patna. He was also wanted for his involvement in the leak of the teacher recruitment exam (TRE-3) paper conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission in March 2024.

Sanjeev Kumar Singh's criminal network is said to have diversified operations in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan, making them a menace in several states by manipulating various recruitment exams. Investigations are being carried out to unravel the interstate connections of this notorious syndicate.

  1. The cunning character, operating as a facilitator, was accused of selling the NEET-UG question papers to aspirants for a hefty fee, defrauding them.
  2. In a prior incident, Sanjeev Kumar Singh (alias Sanjeev Mukhiya) was arrested by the EOU in Patna for masterminding the leak of the NEET-UG 2024 paper and the TRE-3 paper conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission.
  3. The illicit activities of Sanjeev Kumar Singh's network extended across several states, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan, manipulating various recruitment exams.
  4. The accused, SK Faiz, was caught on May 3, 2025, for his role in the unscrupulous activities surrounding the NEET-UG exam, which falls under the categories of crime and justice, general news, education and self-development, and exams.
