ICSE Class 10 Sanskrit Syllabus for 2025-26 Released
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has released the updated syllabus for ICSE Class 10 Sanskrit. The syllabus, available for download in PDF format, presents the course structure, marking scheme, and exam pattern for the upcoming board exams.
Exam Structure and Marking Scheme
The ICSE Class 10 Sanskrit exam paper consists of two sections: Section A (Language) and Section B (Prescribed Texts), each carrying 40 marks, making a total of 80 marks in the theory paper.
Section A: Language (40 Marks)
This section generally includes grammar, comprehension, composition, and translation tasks. Typical grammar topics are sandhi (Svara Sandhi and Vyanjana Sandhi), samasa (Tatpurusha, Dvandva, Bahuvrihi, and others), Kartari-karaka, Krt-pratyayas, verb forms, use of participles, declensions of nouns and pronouns, and translation and comprehension exercises.
Section B: Prescribed Texts (40 Marks)
The syllabus for Section B focuses on the texts prescribed by the ICSE board for Class 10 Sanskrit. This section tests students' explanation and interpretation of selected chapters, verses, or stories from the prescribed Sanskrit literature.
Exam Paper Structure
The ICSE Class 10 Sanskrit exam will consist of a single paper with a duration of 3 hours. No major changes have been made to the syllabus compared to the previous year.
