Dr. Hui Ling Cheah: A Dental Journey Across Continents

Dr. Hui Ling Cheah, a dentist hailing from Malaysia, has embarked on an exciting journey in the field of dentistry, with stops in India, the United States, and Europe. Her story is one of personal growth, academic achievement, and a passion for digital dentistry.

Dr. Cheah's journey began in India, where she spent five formative years studying dentistry. The rich culture and delicious food left an indelible mark on her, setting the stage for her love of travel and food. A conference in Switzerland in 2017 served as a turning point, propelling her towards a new chapter in her dental career.

In 2020, Dr. Cheah joined the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program at Eastman Institute for Oral Health (EIOH) to adapt to the American dental education system. The diversity of patients and the autonomy provided by EIOH allowed her to grow tremendously as a clinician.

During her time at EIOH, Dr. Cheah conducted research titled "Anticholinergic Medication and Caries Status Predict Xerostomia under 65" in collaboration with Dr. Arany. This research, along with her clinical experience, was enriched by the guidance, support, and camaraderie from the GD faculty, staff, and co-residents.

Upon completion of the AEGD program, Dr. Cheah will be a resident in the EIOH Prosthodontics Residency Program. If she decides to specialize, she would choose Prosthodontics. In the future, she aims to become an academician.

Dr. Cheah's hobbies include food and traveling, which have taken her to numerous destinations. She finds the Rochester area appealing for its nature, waterfalls, winter sports, and food. Her favorite part of dentistry is digital dentistry, such as intraoral/desktop scanners, CAD CAM, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality.

In addition to her research and clinical work, Dr. Cheah has presented ePosters in the Academy of Osseointegration meeting in Phoenix AZ 2023, with topics including "Re-tapping the Internal Threads of Dental Implants After Fractured Screw Removal" and "Managing Broken Implant Supported Metal-Acrylic Hybrid Prosthesis: A Case Report".

Despite our efforts, we could not find specific information about Dr. Cheah's career path after completing the EIOH Prosthodontics Residency Program. Typically, dentists who complete such advanced education and residency programs pursue specialist clinical roles, academic appointments, or research positions in prosthodontics or general dentistry, often within hospital or university-affiliated dental centers. However, without explicit information, Dr. Cheah's exact post-training career path remains unknown.

For detailed, up-to-date career information on Dr. Hui Ling Cheah, we recommend consulting direct professional profiles, institutional websites, or official dental specialist registries.

In the future, Dr. Hui Ling Cheah aspires to become an academician, merging her passion for education-and-self-development and personal-growth with her profession in dentistry. As a learner, she continually seeks new knowledge and experiences, demonstrated by her participation in conferences, research, and ePoster presentations, such as her work on "Anticholinergic Medication and Caries Status Predict Xerostomia under 65" and "Managing Broken Implant Supported Metal-Acrylic Hybrid Prosthesis: A Case Report". Her dedication extends to patient care, as shown by her commitment to digital dentistry and her role as a clinician in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program at Eastman Institute for Oral Health (EIOH).
