Kickin' It With Kids: A Grand Day at Akorda

A Tearful Call Home From Akorda's Big Day

On International Children's Day, the President's place, Akorda, played host to a star-studded cluster of students. These whiz kids excelled in subjects, bagged olympiads, and nailed republican and international competitions. They also boasted wins in sports competitions and exhibited acts of sheer courage.

The guest list was a diverse mix, extending to children from large families, orphans, and those with special needs.

The little VIPs got a tour—a sneak peek of the central ceremonial hall, rooms reserved for official gigs, the Head of State's library, and the garden at the Akorda grounds. They learned about the palace's construction, its quirks, and fascinating tidbits related to the events held there.

At the end of the tour, they scooped up gifts from the President himself.

And, just like every year, little folks from all corners of the country dropped by the capital's hotspots during these festive days.

This year's International Children's Day events followed the unified concept "Children of Kazakhstan." From May 22 to June 1, a decade-long focus was placed on vital themes: family, security, health, education, and children's rights.

Across the nation, family, educational, charitable events, exhibitions, sports tournaments, environmental actions, consultations with docs and psychologists, and public discussions were orchestrated.

One day was dedicated to promoting digital technologies and safeguarding children in the digital world.

The Big Cheese of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, extended his well-wishes on International Children's Day.

Earlier, we dished on how Astana and Almaty were sprucing up for a huge shindig featuring fests, shows, concerts, and entertainment for all tastes.

However, the evidence points more towards children from various backgrounds, including those from large families, winners of Olympiads, straight-A students, and the gifted being invited[1].
