Greece, Kuwait Strengthen Ties: Theoharis Visit Boosts Trade, Investment

Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Haris Theoharis recently visited Kuwait, marking a significant step in the strengthening ties between the two nations. Theoharis discussed economic and trade cooperation, with a focus on boosting exports and investment flows. This visit comes at a time when Greece and Kuwait's relations are at their most robust stage ever.

Theoharis praised Greece's investment environment, highlighting its safety, attractiveness, and political stability. The country's growth rates have exceeded twice the EU average, and unemployment is low. Theoharis also acknowledged Kuwait's role as a mediator and builder, with strong relations with many countries and active bridge-building efforts.

The two countries share principles of rule of law and reject power over justice. Existing cooperation in education and healthcare includes Greek professors and researchers in Kuwaiti institutions and partnerships between hospitals. Theoharis also participated in the EU-GCC joint ministerial meeting, discussing sensitive regional and international issues with largely aligned positions.

No new agreements were signed during Theoharis' visit, but dialogue with Kuwait Investment Authority was reinvigorated. Both sides expressed confidence in further developing relations, with more political and economic meetings expected.

Theoharis' visit to Kuwait reflects the growing cooperation and mutual respect between the two nations. Greece's stable investment environment and Kuwait's mediation role have been highlighted, with both sides committed to maintaining and developing their relations. Theoharis' participation in the EU-GCC joint ministerial meeting also signals Greece's alignment with the EU's framework for cooperation with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
