Grads from Wesel Vocational College have achieved success in their professions
In the heart of Wesel, a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, a significant milestone was marked as the Wesel Vocational College held a farewell ceremony for 83 students. The event, which took place in a festively decorated sports hall, saw the students receive their Abitur certificates, the certificate of general university entrance qualification.
This year's ceremony was marked by an unusual motto, "Labyrinth – aimlessly towards the goal," chosen by Principal Markus Höhmann. The metaphor of a labyrinth symbolises the complex and winding path that students often encounter during their educational journey.
The motto carries a symbolic and reflective significance, acknowledging the students' resilience and determination in navigating the labyrinthine path towards their Abitur. As Principal Höhmann emphasised, sometimes 'aimlessness' can lead to unexpected goals.
The word "Labyrinth" suggests that the educational journey is not straightforward. Students often face twists, turns, dead ends, and challenges. The learning process is complex, filled with uncertainties and obstacles that require persistence and adaptability.
The phrase "aimlessly towards the goal" captures the feeling many students experience during their studies—progressing forward without a clear or direct path, sometimes feeling lost or unsure of the next step. It highlights how even when the route seems confusing or indirect, students continue moving toward their ultimate goal (the Abitur or graduation).
The motto encourages students to accept the winding path as part of learning and growth rather than expecting a perfectly planned and smooth progression. It's a philosophical nod to the non-linear nature of personal and academic growth.
Deputy Mayor Marlies Hillefeld and Deputy District Administrator Günter Helbig were among those who congratulated the graduates. The students, who attended five vocational grammar schools, included Abdullah Hossenyi, Ahmad Mohamad, Ajla Skenderi, and many others.
The ceremony ended with the presentation of certificates and a lively musical performance, marking the end of an era and the beginning of new journeys for the class of 2022 from the Wesel Vocational College.
