Delhi Government Launches Comprehensive Student Development Initiative
Governments of Delhi will initiate student clubs in hundred schools, emphasizing involvement from pupils
The Delhi government is set to launch an educational initiative in 2025-26, focusing on holistic student development. This initiative aims to offer a more engaging learning environment beyond traditional classroom settings and contribute to a more dynamic and enriching school ecosystem.
Under this initiative, 100 government schools will establish student clubs, making participation in these clubs mandatory. The clubs will be divided into two categories: one focused on a specific language and another on a category such as science, mathematics, sports, yoga, visual arts, performing arts, inclusive education, or students' council. Schools have the option to choose from languages such as Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Urdu, or Punjabi for their language-based club.
The strategic shift towards a more comprehensive approach to student development beyond the classroom setting remains a key objective of the initiative. The co-curricular aspect of these clubs provides opportunities for students to explore diverse interests, cultivate talents, and develop essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving.
The initiative is designed to integrate language development into club activities to improve students' communication skills, critical thinking, and cultural understanding. The clubs are expected to contribute to a well-rounded educational experience, nurturing academic excellence, personal growth, and social responsibility among Delhi's student population.
School heads have been instructed to ensure the smooth execution of club activities according to the circular. Each participating school can start two clubs, with each club receiving a fund of Rs 10,000. The Department of Education continues to be involved in the planning and implementation of this educational initiative.
The success of these clubs will be closely monitored to ensure they effectively meet their objectives. The initiative represents a significant step towards the government's commitment to improving educational outcomes and fostering well-rounded growth among students in Delhi’s government schools for the 2025-26 academic year.
In addition to the student activity clubs, the Delhi government is also planning to open admissions for 33 CM SHRI Schools and implement the "Joyful Learning" program involving student-created teaching aids. These initiatives aim to enhance student development through innovative pedagogy, interactive learning, and increased student engagement.
