Funding has been approved for establishing a novel youth training program.
The city portal of Essen is pleased to announce the "Ehrenamtsstipendium für junge Engagierte", a scholarship aimed at young, committed residents of the city. This scholarship is designed to support and encourage active participation in local clubs, associations, or similar institutions.

Applicants must meet certain eligibility criteria. They must be at least 18 years old and not older than 27 years old in the year 2026. Additionally, they must be in school, vocational training, studying, or doing a voluntary social year in 2026. Importantly, applicants cannot already be receiving other funding such as the Deutschlandstipendium.
The scholarship holders will receive €150 per month for a year. They will also maintain regular contact with the city portal's Citizen Participation and Volunteer Affairs department. This contact will provide opportunities for idea exchange and network expansion.
