The Sprachenzentrum of Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin) has announced an exciting lineup of autumn holiday courses (Herbstferienkurse) for 2025, offering young people a practical taste of various trades and industries.
From the 14th to the 24th of October, young minds aged 4 to 20 will have the chance to participate in a diverse range of courses, designed to spark curiosity and inspire learning. The registration period for these courses is from Thursday, 18th September at 10 am to Monday, 22nd September at 10 am.
For those aged 11 and above, as well as 14 to 20-year-olds, the project week "Experience Craftsmanship!" takes place during the second week of the autumn holidays at the Junior Uni. This week offers a first glimpse into various career paths, with employees from local craft businesses teaching practical skills.
Younger explorers, aged 7 to 10, can embark on an imaginative journey through Costa Rica in the course "Pura Vida - We Discover Costa Rica". Meanwhile, the course "From Wild Horse to Riding Horse" is perfect for 7 to 10-year-old horse enthusiasts, who will learn about the development and care of horses, gaining insights into the biology and history of these animals.
For those aged 11 to 14, the course "Discgolf - Physics and Technique of a Trend Sport" is available. This course combines movement with science, investigating how flight angle, material, and throwing technique affect flight path. The course "More Courage to Be Myself" is also offered for this age group, focusing on boosting self-confidence and team spirit.
Older participants, aged 14 and above, can delve into the world of international politics in the course "Human & Power - How Does International Politics Work?". This course provides an opportunity for 11- to 14-year-old researchers to discuss how global decisions are made and the role of power structures.
For those interested in law, the course "Respect the rules - Criminal and Civil Law from a Police Perspective" is a fascinating exploration of real cases, legal foundations, and the question of what is and isn't allowed.
In addition to these courses, children can also discover the seasons, learn to program, or design their own cars during the autumn holidays. After the registration period, course places will be drawn by lottery.
