Four students from Kuwait claim medals in Arab competition held in Amman

The 10th Arab Chemistry Olympiad, a significant scientific event for high school students in the region, was held in Amman, Jordan from August 5 to August 9, 2025. Eleven Arab countries participated in the competition, including Syria, Palestine, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Mauritania, Morocco, Lebanon, Oman, Kuwait, and the host country Jordan.

Kuwait's Impressive Performance

Kuwait made a strong showing at the Olympiad, with four students earning medals. Ali Salem Behbehani, a 12th-grade student at the Joint Talent Academy, brought home a silver medal, while Ibrahim Faisal Al-Rashidi, Hala Abdullah Al-Rashidi, and Zahraa Mohammed Al-Haddad, all from various secondary schools, received bronze medals.

Haifa Al-Adwani, Chemistry Supervisor at Kuwait's Ministry of Education, praised these achievements, stating that they demonstrate Kuwait’s strong educational standards and the Ministry’s commitment to supporting scientific talent through international competitions.

The Competition Format

The Olympiad consisted of two main components: theoretical chemistry knowledge tests and practical laboratory skills assessments. Each country was represented by four high school students who had been selected through national chemistry contests.
