Enhancing Educational Relations: Thai Princess Foundation Bolsters Links with Vietnam
The Princess Maha Chakri Award, a prestigious honor presented every two years to recognize outstanding educators from various countries, has recently recognized Nguyen Thi Thu Lan, Principal of Ward 5 Kindergarten in District 10, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Established in 2015, the award aims to honor educators who play a vital role in shaping the futures of their students. It also serves to strengthen educational collaboration among participating countries, the Royal Thai Embassies, and the Princess Maha Chakri Award Foundation through the "Friends of Thailand" network.
Nguyen Thi Thu Lan, a renowned figure in Vietnamese education, was recognized for her innovative educational initiatives. These include the implementation of multifunctional classrooms, the development of a green school model, and the creation of a Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space in her school.
The upcoming sixth ceremony of the Princess Maha Chakri Award is scheduled for October 15, 2025, in Bangkok. The delegation from the Princess Maha Chakri Award Foundation (PMCAF), led by its Chairman, Dr Krissanapong Kirtikara, is currently in Hanoi, Vietnam, from July 6 to 8. The purpose of their visit is to deepen educational cooperation, engage with former award recipients, and promote regional educational development across Asia.
During their stay in Vietnam, the PMCAF delegation held a working session with the Department of International Cooperation under Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training. The visit aims to observe teaching practices, exchange ideas on educational innovations, and discuss future areas of support.
The Princess Maha Chakri Award has been given to numerous educators across the region, with Vietnam having had six teachers honored with the award. The award is considered vital in shaping students' futures and has contributed to strengthening educational collaboration among participating countries, Royal Thai Embassies, and the Foundation.
The PMCAF delegation is expected to visit Nguyen Thi Thu Lan's school on Tuesday. The award, presented biennially to honor exceptional educators from ASEAN nations, as well as Bangladesh, Bhutan, Mongolia, and Timor-Leste, continues to recognize and celebrate the outstanding work of educators like Nguyen Thi Thu Lan.
