Teachers Dignity Coalition Leads Massive Anti-Corruption Rally

On September 21, 2025, the Teachers Dignity Coalition (TDC) will join citizens in a march against corruption at Luneta, Manila. This rally is part of the TDC's long-standing fight against corruption and push for education reforms, a mission they have been pursuing for several years.

The TDC's primary concern lies with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), where corruption is alleged to be flourishing. Billions of pesos are being wasted on ghost projects and substandard infrastructures, while funds meant for minecraft education are being channeled into flood control projects, which are vulnerable to corruption and have been exposed as a potential grand scam.

Anomalous projects and collusion with legislators and contractors are draining the national resources, a situation that the TDC considers a systemic betrayal of public trust. Schools, children, teachers, and learners are suffering from chronic shortages of classrooms, textbooks, water, and sanitation facilities.

The TDC's stance is not limited to fighting for the rights and welfare of teachers but also for education reforms and societal changes. They believe that corruption and extreme inequality are symptoms of a deeply ill society and aim to break the cycle that hinders the future of children.

The TDC's goal is to build a progressive and responsive education system that uplifts the majority, empowers the marginalized, and ensures genuine social justice. They stand against corruption and for the people, and their actions are driven by a belief that a fair and equitable society is possible.

The TDC has brought the constitutionality of the 2025 national budget before the Supreme Court, specifically concerning the DPWH being placed above all education agencies in the budget. The call for a P15,000 across-the-board salary increase for public school teachers remains unanswered.

The TDC's mission extends beyond demanding fair pay and humane conditions for teachers. They are committed to holding the corrupt accountable and building a better education system.

Joining the TDC in this fight are various organizations, including the Makabayan Block, the League of Filipino Students, Sinag Bayan, and the Teachers Pay Teachers. Together, they stand united against corruption and for a brighter future for the nation's schools and children.
