Dubai-based Dubizzle Group takes over Hatla2ee, an Egyptian online automobile marketplace, without disclosing the monetary terms of the deal
In a strategic move to strengthen its foothold in the automotive sector, Dubizzle Group, a leading online classifieds platform in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, has acquired Hatla2ee, an established online marketplace for new and used cars in Egypt.
Founded in 2016 by Samy Swellam, Hatla2ee has grown to become one of Egypt's leading automotive marketplaces, attracting over 2 million monthly visitors. The acquisition integrates Hatla2ee’s platform with Dubizzle’s technology and resources.
Imran Ali Khan, CEO of Dubizzle Group, commented on the acquisition, stating that Egypt is a key focus for Dubizzle Group's future growth. This move is part of Dubizzle Group's targeted M&A approach to deepen its automotive market footprint in Egypt and the wider region.
Dubizzle Group, formerly known as Emerging Markets Property Group (EMPG), has been expanding its portfolio of classified platforms across the MENA region through strategic acquisitions. The Dubai-headquartered firm already operates Dubizzle for general classifieds and Bayut for real estate listings in Egypt.
The acquisition of Hatla2ee marks Dubizzle Group's latest expansion in Egypt and follows its previous automotive-focused acquisition, Mubawab in Morocco. This marks Dubizzle Group's second automotive-focused acquisition in the past year.
In addition to Hatla2ee, Dubizzle Group has made other acquisitions in various markets, including Kaidee in Thailand, Bproperty in Bangladesh, and Lamudi in several markets. The recent acquisition of Property Monitor, a UAE-based real estate data and analytics platform, further broadened its portfolio, though outside the automotive vertical.
Samy Swellam, CEO of Hatla2ee, expressed that the acquisition opens up new opportunities to enhance their platform and create a better user experience in Egypt. Dubizzle Group plans to integrate its technology and resources into Hatla2ee's platform to enhance the car buying and selling experience for Egyptian users.
The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. However, the acquisition was made in Egypt and is expected to further solidify Dubizzle Group's position as a leading online classifieds platform in the MENA region.
