"DrK Children's Theater Group's 'Freedom' Production Leaves Seniors Impressed in 'Between the Worlds'"

Children are akin to plants requiring ongoing nurture. Rather than water, they necessitate empathy, respect, and affection. This sentiment was expressed tearfully by Jolanda Kuci, the DRK Oberhausen's Cultural Integration & Education project manager for Project Management.

"DrK Children's Theater Group's 'Freedom' Production Leaves Seniors Impressed in 'Between the Worlds'"

In the heart of DRK Oberhausen, the DRK children's theater group "Freedom" captivated the audience at the Martha-Grillo-Senior Center with their culminating performance. The theater sequences, developed and rehearsed under professional theater pedagogical guidance, revolved around themes of respect, self-determination, love, and the children's goals and dreams for the future.

The project, titled "Between Worlds," was part of the federal program "Democracy Lives!" by the Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. Jolanda Kuci, the project lead for Cultural Integration & Education at DRK Oberhausen, explained that the children chose to perform in front of the senior home, as many miss their grandparents.

During her explanation, Jolanda Kuci emphasized the needs of children, stating that they are like plants that require constant care. According to her, children need empathy, respect, and love. This sentiment was echoed throughout the performance, which was met with enthusiasm from the audience at the MGS.

The audience was particularly moved by a resident who stood up, hugged each child, thanked them, and advised them to follow their path and hold onto their dreams. The resident, who was not directly named in the provided search results, spoke with wisdom and warmth, making a lasting impression on the young performers.

After the performance, the children received their participation certificates and spent some time socializing with the seniors, enjoying the shared time after the show. The event served as a beautiful reminder of the power of art and the importance of intergenerational connections.

"Between Worlds" was a testament to the potential of children with a migration background, who participated in the project from DRK refugee accommodations. The performance was a shining example of how art can bridge gaps and bring people together, regardless of age or background.
