Federal Judge Delays Trump's Crusade Against Foreign Harvard Scholars

Foreign student entry restriction prevented by US court - Court impedes entry for foreign students hailing from overseas, affiliated with Harvard University.
In a blow to President Donald Trump's controversial policies, a federal judge in the US has temporarily shelved his new restriction targeting international students seeking to study at Harvard University. As per Judge Allison D. Burroughs' ruling, the previous regulations will continue to apply until a court hearing.
Harvard, nestled in Cambridge, Massachusetts, demonstrated significant potential harm without immediate action, Burroughs stated. The reprieve from the policy is effective immediately and will persist until the court provides further direction.
Breathe Easy, Harvard - For Now
This victory gives Harvard a breather amidst its clash with the US government. Though the final verdict on the case still hangs in the balance, the university recently escalated its legal battle against the administration by expanding an existing lawsuit.
The administration has pointed fingers at several universities, including Harvard, for their allegedly left- leaning biases and lackluster responses to anti-Semitism. Unlike other institutions, Harvard has dug in its heels against far-reaching political directives from Washington, choosing instead to fight them head-on in court.
Jurisdiction in Harvard's Favour
Trump announced a travel ban on international students on Wednesday, claiming it would only be enforced for six months. However, Harvard dismissed Trump's premise that the entry of foreign students endangers the US, arguing that they could still enter under Trump's guidelines, as long as they don't seek admission to Harvard. The expanded complaint stated that the new announcement was merely an attempt to enforce Trump's agenda that is already mired in legal challenges.
Harvard has been waging war against the US government's plan to exclude foreign students since last month. Back in May, Judge Burroughs already stemmed the tide, and has since broadened her order. Currently, the government is barred from preventing Harvard from welcoming new foreign students through a special federal program.
