New Apprentices Kickstart Careers with Municipal Service Operation Koblenz

The city of Koblenz is fostering young talent by offering a variety of apprenticeships, with 53 young people starting their careers this year. Among them, 29 are embarking on a journey as civil servants, 10 as administrative specialists, one as an IT specialist, three as state-recognized educators, and five as construction technicians.

One of the exciting new apprenticeships is the road builder apprenticeship, which began at the Municipal Service Operation Koblenz. This three-year dual training program combines practical work at the Municipal Service Operation and theoretical instruction at a vocational school, as is common in German apprenticeships.

The training plan for the road builder apprenticeship focuses on the construction of roads and paths, their substructure with drainage facilities and pipe systems. Practical training covers tasks such as road construction and maintenance, laying asphalt and concrete, earthworks, drainage, and using construction machinery. Theoretical subjects include construction drawing, materials science, safety regulations, environmental protection, and technical mathematics.

The apprenticeship allowance for the Municipal Service Operation's apprenticeships is 1,368.26 € in the first year. In addition to this, apprentices also receive other attractive benefits of the public service, such as 30 days of vacation and an annual bonus.

For the specific detailed curriculum, schedule, and modules offered by the Municipal Service Operation Koblenz, it is recommended to contact their human resources department or the local Handwerkskammer Koblenz directly. Such training programs are often tailored locally and updated regularly.

The application deadline for a start on August 1, 2026, for the Municipal Service Operation's apprenticeships is currently running. Specifically aimed at apprentices is the sub-campaign #UnforgettableLikeFirstLove of the city administration of Koblenz. The city administration conducts its personnel marketing under the brand #LoveForSmallTowns.
