Commencement ceremony held at the Technical University of Ingolstadt
In a heartwarming gathering at the Congress Center, the Technical University of Ingolstadt (THI) celebrated the culmination of its students' academic journeys during their graduation ceremony on Friday evening. Over 1,300 guests, including proud parents, faculty members, and distinguished guests, came together to mark the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of the approximately 1,300 graduates.
The celebration was more than just an academic milestone; it underscored the strong sense of camaraderie that students have nurtured throughout their years at THI. In his opening speech, Professor Walter Schober, the university's president, emphasized the crucial role young academics would play in shaping the future. He urged them to use their innovative minds, commitment, and sense of responsibility to contribute to the prosperity of society.
In addition to the academic accolades, Ingolstadt's Mayor, Dr. Michael Kern, addressed the graduates. The guest list included Horst Seehofer, the former Bavarian Minister-President and Federal Minister, who had warmly welcomed the school's first Neuburg campus graduates in 2021 and now bid them farewell on stage.
Prizes were awarded to some of the best and most remarkable students: Pitt Philipp Michael Hugelmann (Mechanical Engineering) took home the honor of the best Bachelor's graduate. Charlotte Wierling from Applied Research in Engineering Sciences excelled in her Master's studies and was named the best Master's graduate.
Exceptional final projects were also recognized. Jannik Füllgraf's innovative process-controlled application for accounting and dunning in start-ups earned him a 1,000 euro award from the Sparkasse for its entrepreneurial approach. Annika Volkmann's work on the growing importance of digital accessibility for people with cognitive impairments, a topic of significant social relevance, was awarded the Lions Club prize. Finally, an interdisciplinary project team from the Technical Design and Industrial Engineering departments was honored for their innovative product, "Kaiser Karl III. - Living Bed for an Independent Life."
The event featured an energetic stage program that left the audience spellbound. Entertainment was provided by Carolina Padró from the GOP Varieté Theater Munich, the Dance Fire formation from Irgertsheim, and the Basement dance group.
As the evening drew to a close, guests enjoyed music, champagne, and lively conversations, celebrating late into the night. Amidst the joyous festivities, the graduates bade farewell to their alma mater in a style befitting the promising future that lay ahead.
