Solingen Sparkasse and Biological Station Middle Wupper Launch Educational Project to Promote Biodiversity

In a joint effort to promote ecological and social themes, Solingen Sparkasse and the Biological Station Middle Wupper have launched a new educational project named 'BIDI - Shaping Habitats Together - Experiencing Biodiversity'. The project is designed to spark the interest of children and young people in the complex topic of biodiversity, with four schools already registered, including the August-Dicke School.

The project offers three modules: 'Excursions', 'Practical Days', and 'On-Site Eco-Checks'. Schools can choose a module based on their needs or interests upon registration. These hands-on experiences and practical involvement aim to allow students to engage directly with biodiversity and habitat conservation, fostering a connection to nature and promoting ecological responsibility.

Solingen Sparkasse is deeply committed to social commitment to sustainable topics, especially in education. The Sparkasse sees itself as providing a space for participation and knowledge building in the area of biodiversity. The richness of species in animals and plants is important and valuable for everyone, according to the Sparkasse.

Andreas Tangemann, deputy member of the Sparkasse Solingen board, emphasized the importance of promoting ecological and social themes. He stated, "We believe that children are a starting point for building knowledge in the area of biodiversity. By engaging them in practical and meaningful ways, we can inspire the next generation to become environmentally conscientious citizens."

The Biological Station Middle Wupper is a knowledgeable partner for the Sparkasse in carrying out the school project. Dr. Jan Boomers, director of the Biological Station, stated that the project aims to raise awareness among children and young people about biodiversity. He added, "Our goal is to foster a deeper understanding of the importance of biodiversity and the role we all play in preserving it."

To encourage schools to participate, the first ten schools to register for the project by February 28 will receive a free project day. For more specific information such as program duration, the nature of field activities, or how schools can participate, those might be available directly from the Biological Station Middle Wupper or Solingen Sparkasse.

Linda Eiermann, responsible for the project at Solingen Sparkasse, can be contacted for further information and registration at 0212 / 286 - 2858 or [email protected]. The project is targeted at secondary schools in the city of Solingen.
