Northern Kentucky Education Council's 2025 Fall Convening Focuses on Collaborative Education Leadership

The Northern Kentucky Education Council (NKYEC) has announced that registration is now open for its 2025 Fall Convening, an event aimed at bringing together regional leaders to shape the future of P-20 education. The event, scheduled for September 29 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., will take place at the Ignite Institute, located at 27 Atlantic Ave., Erlanger.

According to Randy Poe, the executive director of the council, Northern Kentucky's future starts with bold collaboration. The NKYEC's mission is to strengthen, unite, and mobilize education, business, and community partners in Northern Kentucky to advance student success and wellbeing from early childhood through post-secondary/careers.

The NKYEC Fall Convening is described as a call to action for regional leaders to align around shared goals, provide meaningful input, and drive impact across Northern Kentucky. The event will feature guest speakers, including Kentucky Education Commissioner Robbie Fletcher, who will discuss the "New Proposed Local Accountability System."

Commissioner Fletcher's discussion will likely focus on strategies for improving assessment and accountability systems in schools, a key aspect of the council's mission to promote educational frameworks like the Kentucky statewide Portrait of a Learner. This framework defines the skills students should acquire at various educational milestones.

In addition to Commissioner Fletcher, Steve Pendery, Campbell County Judge Executive, will deliver a keynote speech on building thriving communities. The event will also mark the debut of the NKYEC and NKCES Community-Based Benefits accountability scorecard for NKY, which aims to enhance community and employer organizations' support for student success.

Discussion topics at the NKYEC Fall Convening will include workforce data, parent engagement initiatives, regional P-20 partnerships, and the unveiling of the regional Score Card. The event is expected to focus on collaborative strategies and partnerships in education to equip students for the future, reflecting the Council’s interest in career and workforce development.
