Apple broadens its programming knowledge offerings through the introduction of a new Today at Apple workshop
Apple is set to launch an exciting new coding session for children, titled 'Coding Lab for Kids: Code Your First App'. This session will be available as part of the Today at Apple program, starting from December 5, 2022, and will be offered at Apple Store locations worldwide.
The session is designed for participants aged 10 and up. Using iPad and Swift Playgrounds, Apple Creative Pros will lead the session, guiding children through the process of creating their very own apps. Participants will customise and bring their app to life using SwiftUI and a real-time app preview.
This new session is part of Apple's ongoing commitment to fostering computer science education. It joins a library of resources designed to help students, families, and educators launch their journeys in the field of computer science.
In addition to the new session, Apple also offers 'Coding Skills: Getting Started with Swift Playgrounds', another Today at Apple session that introduces the Swift programming language.
Apple's coding resources are designed to teach essential skills while also preparing learners for high-demand careers in computer science. Thousands of participants have graduated from the Apple Developer Academy, armed with technical fundamentals and core professional competencies.
The iOS app economy supported more than 2.2 million jobs in the US in 2021, highlighting the importance of computer science education. To support educators in incorporating computer science into their classrooms, Apple provides teacher guides and a companion guide for app building in Swift Playgrounds for educators in the Apple Education Community.

Apple's Everyone Can Code and Develop in Swift resources are also available for learners who are ready to explore additional topics in Swift and Xcode on iPad and Mac. The Apple Developer Academy operates in 17 locations around the world, including Detroit, Naples, Italy, and Pohang, South Korea.
The 'Coding Lab for Kids: Code Your First App' session is just one example of Apple's ongoing efforts to make coding accessible and engaging for people of all ages.
