Apple broadens its coding instructional materials with the introduction of a fresh Today at Apple workshop session
Apple is expanding its efforts to promote coding education with the introduction of a new Today at Apple session called 'Coding Lab for Kids: Code Your First App.' This session, designed for participants aged 10 and up, will be held at Apple Store locations worldwide starting December 5, 2022.
Aspiring young coders can register for the sessions at our website.co/coding-sessions. During the session, participants will use iPad and Swift Playgrounds, Apple's fun and easy-to-use app for learning to code. They will learn the basics of SwiftUI and a real-time app preview, enabling them to customize and bring their app to life with features like fonts, background colors, Memoji, and more.
For educators interested in app development with Swift, Apple has created a companion guide for app building in Swift Playgrounds, available in the Apple Education Community. Additionally, teacher guides help educators to build foundational knowledge in computer science to incorporate into their classrooms, from grade school to college and continued education.
Thousands of participants have graduated from the Apple Developer Academy, armed with technical fundamentals and core professional competencies. The academy, which operates in 17 locations worldwide, prepares participants for jobs in the thriving app economy or even starting their own businesses.
Apple provides various free resources for learners of all ages, including in-store coding sessions. Customers can also sign up for 'Coding Skills: Getting Started with Swift Playgrounds,' another Today at Apple session that introduces the Swift programming language and foundational concepts.
The new session will become part of Apple's rotating Today at Apple programming. For media inquiries, press contacts can be found at media.help@our website.
In 2021, the iOS app economy supported more than 2.2 million jobs in the US, including roles in software development, project management, design, and more. As the demand for app developers continues to grow, Apple's coding education resources aim to equip a new generation of coders with the skills they need to succeed in the industry.
For those who are ready to explore additional topics in Swift and Xcode on iPad and Mac, Apple's Everyone Can Code and Develop in Swift resources offer further learning opportunities.
