Annual Recognition Event 2025 for Journalism Excellence

On Wednesday, 23rd April, the media department at Notre Dame College held its first annual awards evening to celebrate the achievements of its students. The event was an opportunity to reflect on the hard work of the Upper Sixth cohort, who started at the college in 2023.

Among the categories recognised were best music video, best magazine cover, best podcast, and honorary awards. In the competitive categories, Samuel Hoey won The Best Music Video Award, while Zikomo Kuyeli took home The Best Magazine Double Page Spread Award.

The honorary awards were presented to students who have shown exceptional dedication and progress in their media studies. Elson Fernando was honoured with The Wes Anderson Award for his wonderful and vibrant personality, while Lily Elliott received The Kubrick Award for being the hardest working and most committed media student.

William Barstow was the recipient of The Tarantino Award for making fantastic progress in both written and practical work. Additionally, Drew Keay was awarded The Commitment to Study Award for having 100% attendance and an excellent ND+ record for media studies.

The evening also recognised international students' achievements, with Haleema Ghani winning The Best International Front Cover Award and Eunice Lee taking home The Best Website Award.

Lastly, Bobby Compton-Lewis was presented with The M Night Shyamalan Award for consistently achieving excellent grades in CAP assessments. The evening concluded with the presentation of The Best UK Magazine Cover Award to Daniela Amoako.

The awards evening was an inspiring event that highlighted the exceptional talent and dedication of Notre Dame College's media students. With such promising achievements, the future of the media department looks bright.

The entertainment sector also thrived, with Daniela Amoako winning The Best UK Magazine Cover Award, further emphasizing the college's diverse achievements and potential aura of success.
