Anniversary festivities grace the prestigious academic institution: Centennial milestone achieved by the school
Schloss Neubeuern, a place of ideas that has been shaping the lives of young people for a century, celebrated its centennial at the beginning of 2025. The grand celebration took place on July 25th at 2:00 PM in the Rolf-Braun sports hall, as part of the summer festival. Around 360 students, employees, parents, and guests attended the event.
The celebration was a vibrant, multifaceted event that honoured Schloss Neubeuern’s commitment to education and community over the past 100 years. The occasion was marked by various special events and activities, including collaborative projects, a theater production, and speeches from school leaders and distinguished guests.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the theater piece "Schlossmoments - a castle tells a story," which dramatized key moments in the school's history and highlighted themes important to the school community. The production was the result of a collaboration between the teacher team Christina Antholzner, Matthias Friedel, Felix Baumann, Helga Kaußen-Mandelartz, and Christina Rothmayer, and a 24-member student group.
In her speech, the chairperson of the parents' council, Dr. med. Anna-Karina Mehl, expressed her support for the values lived at Schloss Neubeuern: responsibility, curiosity, and community spirit. She described Schloss Neubeuern as a second home and a crucial preparation for exploring the world in a values-based community. Alina Kraus, the chairperson of the student council, reported on the pride of the students in being part of Neubeuern's tradition and its future.
Thomas Straßer, the headmaster, emphasized the deeply rooted philosophy of the school: For a hundred years, Castle Neubeuern has been accompanying young people in growing into independent, discerning personalities. He thanked everyone for their contributions to the anniversary year and invited guests to the reception and exhibitions.
Susanne Schoerghuber, the head of the boarding school, also thanked everyone for their contributions and highlighted the school's ongoing efforts to address current challenges, such as the renovation of the "Truperhaus" dormitory. Dr. Struengmann, a former student and member of the curatorium, was honoured during the celebration and remembered his friends Klaus Krone and Helmut Nanz who could not attend. He emphasized the value of tolerance in his speech.
Overall, the centennial celebration of Schloss Neubeuern was a testament to the school's enduring commitment to education, community, and the cultivation of responsible, curious, and engaged young people. Schloss Neubeuern offers a space to question and shape topics like climate change, digitalization, and social cohesion, ensuring that its legacy continues for generations to come.
