The Designers in Residence scholarship program, supported by Sparkasse Pforzheim Calw as a gold partner, is now accepting applications until November 15, 2023. This program offers emerging and established designers an opportunity to work on a personal project in Pforzheim, Germany from April to June 2024.
Scholars will have access to a variety of resources, including workshops, coworking space, equipment from the EMMA creative center and participating partners, as well as the infrastructure and offers of the Faculty of Design at Pforzheim University. This comprehensive support aims to foster creativity and collaboration among the designers.
The jury for this year's program includes Jiro Kamata and Romin Heide, both of whom are alumni of Pforzheim University and active members of the Association of German Industrial Designers. Louise Bennetts, the head of research and development at Reweave and a lecturer at the Royal College of Arts, will also be part of the selection process for the second time.
Scholars selected for the program will receive free accommodation, financial support, and a materials grant. They will also have the opportunity to exchange ideas with jury members, professors, and network with creative professionals in Pforzheim. The results of the program will be presented in an exhibition at the EMMA creative center in Pforzheim.
