40 Brazilian Leaders Graduate from Harvard's Early Childhood Development Programme
Forty leaders from Brazil recently concluded a prestigious programme at Harvard University. The Executive Leadership Programme in Early Childhood Development (ELP) saw a diverse cohort, including vice-governors, senators, and community leaders, engage in a global effort to integrate early childhood development (ECD) into sustainable development and peacebuilding frameworks.
The programme, organized by the National Council on Public Investment (NCPI), brought together public officials, civil society leaders, academics, and communication professionals. Participants hailed from various backgrounds, including vice-governors, senators, deputies, mayors, and secretaries from Urban95 cities. Representatives from the Ministries of Education and Health also attended, demonstrating Brazil's commitment to ECD.
The programme featured participants from the National Fund for Educational Development (FNDE), journalists from Brazil's largest television network, and community leaders from Indigenous, Quilombola, and Ribeirinho communities. These leaders were distinguished by their involvement in leveraging evidence-based ECD and trauma-informed parenting programs. The programme highlighted Brazil's engagement with these cutting-edge, peace-oriented, and intersectoral leadership initiatives, reflecting a strategic emphasis on capacity building for next-generation leadership in intergenerational peacebuilding within global governance contexts.
The successful completion of the ELP at Harvard University by 40 Brazilian leaders signals a significant step in Brazil's commitment to ECD and peacebuilding. These leaders, equipped with advanced knowledge and skills, are poised to drive sustainable development and peace initiatives in Brazil and beyond.
