2025 Prime Minister Internship Program: Requirements, Application Procedure, Advantages, and Deadlines

In an exciting development, the PM Internship Scheme 2025 has expanded its list of participating companies, bringing together major public and private sector organisations from diverse industries. The scheme, launched by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, aims to provide a wide range of internship opportunities across more than 730 districts in India.

Some of the key participating companies include Reliance Industries Limited, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), HDFC Bank Limited, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Infosys Limited, NTPC Limited, Tata Steel Limited, ITC Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, ICICI Bank Limited, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, Tata Sons Private Limited, Wipro Limited, HCL Technologies Limited, Hindustan Zinc Limited, Jubilant FoodWorks, Eicher Motors Limited, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Tech Mahindra, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, Bajaj Finance, Muthoot Finance, The Times Group, Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, and many more.

The diverse participation spans automotive, IT, finance, manufacturing, and FMCG sectors, among others. The scheme has onboarded about 327 partner companies so far, with the top companies being identified based on the average of their CSR expenditure over the last three years. However, participation in the scheme is voluntary, and other companies may join with the approval of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA).

Upon successful completion of the internship, interns will receive a government-certified internship certificate, which can enhance their resume value and career prospects. The PM Internship Scheme is open to Indian citizens aged between 21-24 years (age relaxation applicable for reserved categories).

The scheme offers 12-month structured internships in top public and private sector organisations. Interns will receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000/month (₹4,500 from the Government, ₹500 from the host company) and a one-time joining grant of ₹6,000 upon commencement. The scheme aims to bridge academic learning with industry exposure, improve employability, and promote skill development.

To apply, candidates must have Aadhaar card or other valid ID proof, academic transcripts/certificates, college/institute letter or Statement of Purpose (if required), and a passport-size photograph ready. Candidates must register, complete Aadhaar OTP verification, submit personal and educational details, and generate an automatic resume on the portal.

Candidates can choose up to five preferred internship opportunities based on location, sector, and qualification. However, candidates who are enrolled in full-time degree (except distance mode), are currently undergoing apprenticeship/internship under central schemes (NAPS, NATS), or holders of professional/higher postgraduate degrees (e.g., MBA, MBBS, CA, IIT/IIM/IISER graduates) are not eligible for the PM Internship Scheme.

The PM Internship Scheme was launched in 2024 on a pilot-basis with an initial target of providing 1.25 lakh internship opportunities.
