2025 NRA Youth Education Event Offers Scholarships, Leadership Insights
The 2025 NRA Youth Education Summit (Y.E.S.) took place in the heart of Washington, D.C., offering a unique opportunity for rising juniors and seniors. This summit, partially funded by The NRA Foundation, focused on leadership development, civic engagement, and education on American history and government.
During the summit, students participated in a mock Friends of NRA event, gaining valuable experience in event management and fundraising. A significant part of the Y.E.S. program was the mock debate series, where students researched, prepared, and refined their arguments, honing their leadership and collaboration skills.
The students' performances were evaluated not only on their debate skills but also on their leadership, collaboration, and engagement during the mock debate sessions. This holistic approach aimed to foster well-rounded leaders who are equipped to navigate complex issues.
The summit included visits to historical and symbolic sites such as Capitol Hill, George Washington's Mount Vernon, the National Archives Museum, the National Museum of the United States Army, and Arlington National Cemetery. At Arlington National Cemetery, students participated in a moving wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, providing a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made for the preservation of American freedom.
In addition to historical sites, students also had live-fire opportunities on the NRA Range, offering a hands-on experience with firearms safety and marksmanship. This aspect of the summit was designed to promote responsible gun ownership and safe handling practices.
The Y.E.S. program provided a comprehensive learning experience that combined academic rigour with practical applications, making it an invaluable opportunity for the participating students.
